Wisconsinites gathered at Turkish-Style Sunday Brunch with Live Music
More than 70 Wisconsinites from all walks of life and various religious and cultural traditions with diverse racial and ethnic background came to the Turkish-American Society of Wisconsin (TASWI) to attend another Turkish-Style Sunday Brunch with live music. The attendees enjoyed delicious homemade Turkish dishes, pastry, salads, Turkish tea and/or coffee, round-table conversation and more.
After the brunch, the live demonstration of Turkish coffee has been performed. Though the coffee is not grown in Turkey, Turkish coffee has become legendary all around the world for both its strong flavor and its special methods of preparation and service. Nonetheless, there was much more to Turkish coffee’s story other than its delicious taste, including the role the coffee plays in marriage customs and coffee-cup reading. The program ended with a raffle where some gifts are given to lucky guests.
The events like Turkish-Style Sunday Brunch aim to promote cross-cultural friendship among Wisconsinites, where they find common ground to strengthen friendship through food, music, and chat. This event is organized by the TASWI volunteers and dedicated to celebrating friendship among individuals by offering Turkish hospitality.
